Tariq Iqbal, Mohsin Jamil and Jahangir Khan<\/h5>\n<h5><b>Abstract<\/b><\/h5>\n<h5>With advancements in renewable energy techno\u00ad\nlogies, consumers are becoming prosumers, and renewable energy\nresources are being used in distributed networks. In an isolated\ndistributed system, peer-to-peer (P2P) energy trading is one of\nthe most promising energy management solutions. In this paper,\nwe propose a P2P energy trading method for micro-grids using\nopen resources and technology. The proposed setup comprises\nan Internet of Things (IoT) server to transfer energy amongst\nthe peers without human intervention, and an Ethereum based\nprivate blockchain is suggested for money transfer in the form\nof cryptocurrency. The IoT server enables the peers to control\nand monitor self-produced energy. Arduino UNO, ACS 712 hall-\neffect current sensor, and a relay are the main components used\nin the hardware setup. The current sensor data is sent in real-\ntime to Arduino for onward communication to the IoT server.\nA user-friendly interface has been developed on the server to\nperform various energy trading tasks. Peers have the choice to\naccess the server remotely to perform energy trading tasks. The\nenergy trading events can be shared amongst peers through e-mail\nnotifications. For financial transactions, we utilized Ganache\ngraphical user interface (GUI) a private Ethereum blockchain\neliminating the need for financial institutions. The proposed peer-\nto-peer energy trading model has been successfully tested for\nenergy trading between two peers.
